Act now to protect the Ningaloo Reef and the Kimberley

The Federal Environment Minister Tony Burke has released draft maps of marine sanctuaries off WA’s tropical waters, but key hotspots for marine life have been left out.

Much of the waters surrounding our most iconic tropical marine habitats – world heritage listed Ningaloo and Shark Bay and the Kimberley whale nursery have been left unprotected and under threat.

Oil companies continue to drill closer and closer to critical areas for marine life like the Ningaloo Marine Park. Dolphins and other protected marine life are dying in trawl nets every year. Seabed mining is a new threat in our northern seas.

Marine sanctuaries are proven to restore and protect marine life.  They also prevent oil drilling, buffering important habitats from oil spills, help improve fishing, and boost tourism by promoting our marine environment to the world.

Stand with us and take action today. Send your comments now in a submission to Environment Minister Tony Burke. We have only until November 28th to turn this proposal around.
