The WA Government has commenced a brutal cull of endangered sharks using baited drum lines and firearms, but there is no scientific evidence that this would reduce the already very low risk of shark attack.

CCWA and others have referred the cull to the state’s powerful environmental watchdog and the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) is now calling for public comments to help them decide how to deal with the referral. The EPA has three choices:

  1. Allow the cull to continue
  2. Rule out the shark cull as environmentally unacceptable
  3. Require the government to undertake a full environmental impact assessment (which would require the cull to be suspended while it is undertaken)

<--- Use the form opposite to make a submission to the EPA.

We suggest starting your submission off powerfully by adding your personal comments (in your own words). Then give reasons (based on your own personal opposition, the scientific evidence, the economic ramifications, etc.) why you think this policy is environmentally unacceptable.
Once you’re finished, share this with as many of your friends, family and colleagues as possible to help stop this cull too.
